WinRar Recovery Record Integrity?
If I create a RAR file with a 10% recovery record, will the compressed file have more integrity than the original file? Are other factors involved, such as file type, compression ratio, etc.? I am currently storing the files on an external hard drive with best compression and a 10% recovery record.
By integrity I mean would the file be safer (less chance of it being corrupted) if I left it alone (uncompressed and untouched), or if i put it in a RAR file with 10% recovery?
I am not sure what you mean by integrity of the file. But according to winrar documentation if you add a 10% recovery record, you would be able to recover approximately 10% of the data even if the compressed file is damaged.
If an archive has a recovery record, it can be repaired even in case of physical data damage due to floppy disk failure or data losses of any other kind.
Putting a recovery record is not going to save your file from getting damaged. It will just help you recover if it get damaged.
