Acura Service and History

Acura was the very first Japanese luxury brand to be established by an existing Japanese automaker. Formed in 1986 By Honda Motor Company, Acura attempted to build a new competitor to its German luxury opposite numbers, mainly BMW, Mercedes and Audi. The lineup started with only two offerings, the Acura Legend, a V-6 powered sedan and the Acura Integra, which was available in both a two-door and four-door models. In 1987, after a complete year of sales, Acura emerged as a true rival in the luxury market, matching the benefit of German vehicles with the bulletproof trustworthiness that has become linked with the Honda name. With 109,000 cars sold that year, they outsold both Mercedes and BMW at a virtually 2-1 pace. Today, Acura continues to offer cutting edge technology mixed with the reliability that consumers have started to expect.

Acura's engines, designed and build by Honda, are a selection of the most highly efficient in the industry. VTEC, which stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control, was created to extract better power and fuel usage from the littler, more trustworthy engines that Acura has a tendency to use. Using multiple camshafts, VTEC allows the engine to change between the low speed camshafts and the high speed camshafts at a predetermined Revs per minute to maximise power. By doing this, Acura engines have been able to squeeze out as much as 100 horsepower per liter, just about unusual in production engines.

It is recommended that the engine oil be changed every 3,000 miles, and all of the major service intervals for Acura engines are at 30,000/60,000/90,000 miles. It is also inspired by Acura to have your automobile inspected at 15,000/45,000/75,000 miles for fluid, seals and bushing checks.

Acura is believed to have some of the most professional shifting transmissions in the business. From the late, great NSX to the current TSX and TL, Acura prides itself in finding the perfect balance between performance and comfort with their transmissions. However some transmissions have come with tiny defects from the factory, causing them to grind going into gear or pop out of gear infrequently. Sometimes due to wear on the synchros, you could need to have certain gears replaced to have your vehicle up and running smoothly.

Using top of the range parts has traditionally been a way of life for Acura. By holding a very high standard in initial quality, their air conditioning systems have proven to stand the test of time, most lasting well over 100,000 miles. However , if the air con system is neglected for a long time it can at last break down, causing a very pricey headache.

Acura's brakes are difficult, trusty and adaptable. Backed by Honda racing heritage, the design from a Honda Formula 1 auto may end up in an Acura auto inside a matter of years. Many neglect their brakes, servicing them long after the pads have begun to squeak. Acura advises that you inspect or service your pads and rotors at 15,000/45,000/75,000 miles to make certain that they are working correctly and at their peak.

First designed by Karl Benz of Mercedes-Benz, an automotive radiator abates heat by flushing coolant through the engine block, then returning it to the radiator, where it is chilled thru the veins of the core. The radiator is one of the parts on your Acura that is the most subject to everyday driving. Whether or not it's hot temperatures, a rock or a cracked hose, any little thing could cause the radiator to overheat.

Acura's electrical systems are generally trusty for the main part. With minor exceptions, you ought to be able to expect your Acura's electric conveniences will continue to work for quite some time. Certain parts such as window and door lock regulators do have a lifespan and must get replaced after you approach 100,000 miles.

With Acura autos, it is extremely important that all routine maintenance and warranty repairs are. Done regularly and on schedule so as to maintain the trustworthiness that Acura is so celebrated for. It is of the utmost importance to have your Acura regularly checked by qualified pros to ensure that it may continue to run reliably for years to come.

Tyger Lucas has been in the Auto repair business for over 30 years and his independently owned shop Lucas Auto Care is the logical dealer alternative option to your agency for all Acura Repair Houston.

With the passing of President Ford, whats going thru Bush's head. How does he want to be remembered?

Some say, had President Gerald Ford (born Leslie Lynch King, Jr.) severed a whole term he would be remembered as a great president.

Upon their deaths, all presidents receive accolades that fall just short of cannonization. I'm not saying that President Ford does not deserve praise...but to your question, I think that Bush knows that upon his death - he too will be praised. Sad really. It seems that no one has the balls to tell it like it is. I'm hoping that someone grows some big ones, so that when its time for Bush to be eulogized, it will be an accurate statement about his single handed destruction of the reputation and respect of America throughout the rest of the world.
