Heading Out For Some Sailing Fun?
It seems to be pretty neat when you saw it on TV Your affinity towards it made you want to see some youtube videos about it too. You might think that sailing is something that you definitely love to try out. So here is a short article that will help you understand on what sailing basically is.
There is one simple rule on sailing that is for everyone and if you won’t be able to follow this rule, you’re dead meat. That rule is never, ever to be seasick. Well if you belong to those who can indeed go for this adventure here are the simple mechanics that you need to understand:
Just like in sports, sailing does have a vocabulary. You need to memorize it fast if you will be headed for a sail. So the front portion of the boat is the bow. The stern is the back portion of the boat. You don’t say front and back. Interestingly, there are also specific phrases used in wither going to the bow or the stern. When you go to the bow, we say you are “going fore”. When you go to the stern, we say “going aft”. The star board is the term used for the right portion of the boat while the port refers to the left portion of the boat.
It is very uncomplicated to know the proper word for where you will be standing on. It is called the deck. So there you will be standing while wearing your cool sailing attire with a nice sailing hat too, trying to sink in all of the vocabulary fast. As for that long and sturdy pole that you can see standing, how do you call that? Don’t call it a pole for it is called a mast. It is very important in the sailboat since it is the one that has the sail kept in place and helps the boat to be stirred in any direction you wish for it to proceed.
And then there are the ropes of the sailboat. All of the ropes must be tied in its correct positioning. It is vital for the ropes to be where they should be. The mast, the foredeck and the fixture aft are where the ropes should be.
As for your attire, you don’t actually need special sailing attires. You just need to wear sailing hats that are comfortable. It would also look nice to have some sailing hats since it might be too sunny and you might want to wear a sailing hat for more comfort. You can also choose to wear the typical beach attire when heading for a sail.
Does anyone the proper name for the pole/mast you can put in your garden for tv aerials etc?
I think it is triangular shape?!
Triangular shaped with a pipe on each corner, cross braces between about 18" apart? That would be an section stack tower.
